Last Friday Corey and I got to go with Michael to Welcome Day at Northmoor. He was pretty nervous. His voice was cracking and everything when he was talking to me in the morning. When we got to the school we were given a t-shirt for him to wear for the firs week of school. Its bright neon green so that where ever he is everyone knows that he is a kindergartner and can get him to where he belongs. Pretty good idea! Then we set all of his school supplies on a table with a big red balloon (everything that was for Mrs. Birris’s classes had the red balloons), after that we went into the cafeteria and looked for the balloons that where were his class was to sit, all of the kindergarten teachers stood up and talked about procedures and such. Then we got to eat lunch. They provided hot dogs, carrots, chips, cookies and milk. While sitting at the table Michael started to talk to a little boy named Marco. They played ISpy and threw things at each other while the teachers were talking and while we were eating. Once we were done in the cafeteria we got to go to his classroom and put away supplies. I liked his teacher a lot. She interacts with the kids so well. Michael seems to like her quite a bit. We left after all of his supplies were put away. When we were leaving we asked Michael what he thought of Northmoor. He loved it and was no longer scared. I was so happy that he was no longer scared!

Monday was his first day of school. Once again he was nervous. We got up at 7 am and attempted to follow a routine. Get up, eat breakfast, brush teeth and hair, wash face, get dressed, mess around until 7:40 when we leave, grab book bag and lunchbox, and leave. We’ve done really well. We went and picked up Katie, she wanted to come with me. We found where we needed to be and got him in his line. He hung on Katie for a long time. Then his friend Marco showed up and he was fine. His classed went into the class and Katie says “Its so sad! He’s so grown up” with tears in her eyes. I lost it. My baby is grown up!! I can’t even begin to explain how I feel and how many questions run through my head. I just had to keep thinking only five hours until I pick him up, 5 hours 5 hours 5 hours!

I went and picked him up at 1:45. I had no idea where I was supposed to be or anything. It was rather stressful but after about 20 minutes I finally found Michael and got outta there. Then he realized he forgot his lunchbox so we went on a wild goose hunt for it. Then at 2:30 we finally made it home. He didn’t really want to talk about school much. He just gave me little tidbits of information. Through out the evening and the next morning he told me more and more. But when he got home he was starving. He only ate about 1/2 of his lunch so he ate the rest of that and a giant pretzel. He also ate the biggest dinner ever! He told me that he was going to go back to school the next day which definitely made me happy! While Michael was at school Aiden informed me that Michael was at work. It was too cute.

Today was his 2nd day of school. It was easier dropping him off than the 1st day. No tears and he went and stood in line with no problem. As we were leaving Aiden ran up and gave him a huge hug. It was adorable. So all in all school has been pretty good. I hate to admit it but I do like the break and enjoy being able to spend a little one on one time with Aiden!
